Take a Look at the Redesigned Jeep Wrangler | Steve Landers Auto Group

An all-new Jeep Wrangler redesign has been in the works for some time now, and it was finally revealed to the world this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new generation of Wrangler is called the Jeep Wrangler JL, with the previous generation being referred to as the Jeep Wrangler JK. If you want to know what’s new for the Wrangler, you’re in the right place — we’ll fill you in with everything you need to know below!

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL might be all-new, but the exterior design is hardly revolutionary. That’s a good thing, of course — at least for the Jeep fanatics out there. The Wrangler has always stayed close to the iconic Jeep brand styling and Wrangler silhouette, dating all the way back to World War II. That’s a big part of what sets the Wrangler apart and fuels the Jeeper culture, so it’s not surprising that the exterior didn’t undergo any major changes. It does appear to have a slightly more modern look, but the big design elements remain, including the classic Wrangler shape, seven-slot grille, round headlamps, square taillamps, etc.

The changes that Jeep did make to the Wrangler’s body leave a much bigger impact. First of all, the Wrangler JL weighs about 200 pounds less than the previous generation. Not only does that improve capability, but it’s more efficient now too. The 2018 Wrangler also offers a fold-down windshield that could prove to be pretty useful when you need a better view of the upcoming obstacles, or when you just want to be that much closer to nature. The 2018 Wrangler also offers a power convertible top for the first time ever, as wella s a 3-piece modular hardtop that is lighter and easier to remove. The Wrangler also offers 33-inch all-terrain tires, which will certainly come in handy for the true Jeepers out there.

Under the hood of the all-new Wrangler, you’ll find an updated V6 engine that puts out 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The engine can be paired with either a standard six-speed automatic manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new Wrangler JL also offers the option of an all-new turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which delivers 270 horsepower and an incredible 295 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, the 2018 Wrangler JL has an approach angle of 44 degrees and a departure angle of 37 degrees. It has an 84:1 crawl ratio, 10.9 inches of ground clearance, and up to 30 inches of fording depth. It can also tow 3,500 pounds. Nice.

On the inside, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL definitely got a facelift. The cabin is more modernized with new levels of fit, finish and interior enhancements. None of the interior updates were done without a purpose, though. The interior technology is designed to help you stay informed about your Jeep’s performance and your driving habits. The latest UConnect system is featured with either a 7- or 8.4-inch touchscreen. It provides you with driver info, and offers safety and entertainment features like a backup camera and music connectivity. You will also find more options for integrating accessory controls, like those for lights and winches. The Wrangler’s bucket seats offer adjustable bolsters and lumbar support, so you can go wild on the trails without worrying about being sore tomorrow.
