OU Rowing:

Our girls finished the 2018 fall season with a fight! At its last meet, the Jayhawk Jamboree in Lawrence, Kansas, the OU rowing team claimed one victory and various medal finishes. The novice Sooner team had a successful weekend with two top ten finishes in the 8+ competition. The A Squad won bronze, finishing in 15:48.8, while the B Squad came in eighth with a time of 14:48.8. Both Sooner boats advanced with a solid finish in the collegiate 8+ race. The A Squad went on to advance in the semi-final, but missed the final by two seconds, ending second to the University of Kansas.

Our OU rowing team opened its 2019 spring season with a scrimmage against Kansas State. Before the scrimmage, the Sooners honored ten senior members with a ceremony, which included the dedication of a boat in their honor.

In their first time on the water in 2019, both the varsity and novice teams participated in numerous short races against Kansas State. No scores were recorded in the two-session scrimmage (we all know our Sooners took first place) however head coach Leeanne Crain was pleased by their hard performance. Let’s get ready to cheer on our Sooner rowing team as they finish out this season!
